About
Where stories meet their audience.
ThePaper is a publishing network where journalists, writers, researchers and creators publish their work, build their reputation and get discovered by publishers. We started ThePaper.in because good independent writers deserve more than a social feed: a place where their work is read, credited and found by the people who commission stories.
For readers
Original reporting, explainers and opinion from independent journalists, writers and researchers, on everything from personal finance and technology to politics, health and culture. Every story carries its writer's name and a profile you can read, so you always know who you're hearing from.
For writers
A professional home for your work. Publish stories under your own byline, build a public profile with your experience, expertise and published pieces, and get discovered by publishers looking for contributors. Your work stays yours: contributors keep the copyright in what they publish.
For publishers
A place to find writers by what they've actually published. Browse contributor profiles by expertise and location, message writers directly, and post paid assignments that contributors can apply to.
Our editorial standards
- Every story is checked before it goes live: automated checks for formatting, sources and policy, and an editor’s review for anything they flag.
- Factual claims should be sourced, and stories list their sources so readers can check them.
- Contributors publish only work they created or have the right to use. See our Copyright Infringement Policy.
- Spotted a problem with a story? Use the Report button on the story, or write to us at contact@thepaper.in. We review every report.
