Big Fat Wedding or Small Wedding? What Indian Couples Are Choosing in 2026
Applications are open to signed-in contributors.
Description
Wedding season is here, and the big question for many families is how big to go. We want a warm, honest, reader-first feature on what Indian couples are actually choosing this year: the grand multi-day wedding, a small intimate one, a court wedding with a reception, or something in between. Talk to at least 3 couples who married recently or are planning a wedding this season. Ask what they spent (roughly) on venue, food, outfits, photography and decor, where they cut back or splurged, who decided, and what they would do differently. Add one or two voices from the business side, such as a wedding planner, caterer or photographer, on what has changed. Quotes must come from your own conversations, with permission to use each person's name (first names are fine). Any figure or statistic you didn't collect yourself must link to its source.
